On 10th November 1970 'LIFE' was started by Sri.K.P.Bhaskara Menon, Upholding the view “HEALTH FOR ALL”. To have ‘YOGA AND GYMNASIUM’ under one umbrella was indeed a very unusual or rare thing in those days. Soon after, people realized the advantages of these and they accepted both happily. As the number of customers increased, the institution was shifted to a more convenient building owned by him. There, the nature of service was seriously improved with more and more facility. It was during those days that a new scheme was introduced to enhance the physical fitness of candidates seeking recruitment in army and police. There was good response to this scheme from youth in society. Parents were happy to send their sons for training. Along with Gymnasium, Yoga also attracted people. Yoga practice and treatment based on yoga became very popular. People from far and near came with complaints and they all got benefits. The institution could increase the physical and mental health of participants, there by giving a boost to their personality and self confidence. They developed aim in life and strove to achieve the same. All these gave great job satisfaction to the persons working in LIFE. The director, in the course of his service conducted research in the areas of yoga and treatment. Through keen observation over a long time, he introduced innovative methods in treatment which yielded wonderful results. Also, he added new lessons in yoga, thereby treating successfully people suffering from diseases like wheezing (astma), cardiac problems, Diabetes, blood pressure, epilepsy, disc problems, migraine, piles and related disorders, obesity, anxiety and other mental disorders. The result of treatment and positive reaction from people enhanced the reputation of ‘LIFE’. In 1993, considering the demands of people, swimming was introduced. Separate courses are held for women, children and others. A swimming pool under natural surroundings has been arranged and maintained. Effective coaching in swimming under friendly and favorable atmosphere has attracted many people even from far away places. If this institution has grown into a big one providing relief comfort and strength to so many, it is because people give so much trust, cooperation and, confidence to it. Thanks to all for bestowing so much trust and that alone will help us grow further. Running the Yoga Centre with a gymnasium since 1970, at Edappally for general fitness and also as Treatment for Asthma, Diabetes, Hypertension, Piles, Mental Disorder, Cardiac Disorder, Specialized treatment for infertility etc.
